headspace – Bondi Junction

headspace is the national youth mental health foundation established by the Australian government in 2006. The project is funded by the Department of Health under the Youth Mental Health Initiative Program.

headspace offers support for those aged 12 to 25 years old on a range of issues including depression, anxiety, stress, alcohol and drug use, sexuality, sexual health, personal or family relationship issues and bullying.

The headspace model encourages young people to present directly to a youth mental health service via eheadspace or face to face within a headspace centre. headspace is a youth friendly “one stop shop” for medical and specialised psychological care. From 2006 headspace has been mindful to not create barriers to care for young people who are marginalised and hard to reach. headspace centres are encouraged to provide bulk billing and low fee services.

At headspace Bondi Junction they offer a range of free, confidential and safe services. They have social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists who work one-on-one with clients to work through any mental health issue they may be dealing with. They have a doctor that can assist with any physical health issues and a sexual health nurse who can help with any issues or questions relating to sexual health. They have a dental clinic where clients can access pain-free dental assessment and check-ups. They have an Alcohol and Other Drug counsellor who provides counselling to those dealing with alcohol and other drug substance use. They also work with an employment agency to help clients find education and employment opportunities.
