On the 8th and 10th of May the Prince of Wales Hospital celebrated International Nurses Day for 2019. The Foundation was honoured to support the celebrations with the help of Royal Randwick Shopping Centre and many other generous businesses.
The celebrations were kicked off on Wednesday with a panel discussion on the importance of empathy in nursing featuring Tracy Levett- Jones from UTS Nursing. Our Nurses were then treated to a Wellness and Mindfulness expo where they were reminded about the importance of looking after themselves so they can provide the best care for their patients.
On Friday May 10th our local community pulled together to provide our Nurses a free BBQ to thank them for all of their hard work over the past year. The BBQ was followed by a big finale to the celebrations, being the Nursing awards. Our Nurses were recognised in a range of areas, including heart of caring, leadership, innovation and research, nursing team award, wellbeing innovator award and finally Nurse of The Year.
The Prince of Wales Hospital Nurse of the Year for 2019 was awarded to Sarah Dunn for her commitment to nursing at Prince of Wales. Sarah was described by her peers as Inspirational, optimistic, fun loving, a caring leader and kind. Congratulations Sarah, the Prince of Wales Hospital is so lucky to have you!
