Funding from Prince of Wales Hospital Foundation for an innovative pain management program will provide patients with more options for the relief of chronic pain.

Andrea, a retired nurse, suffered chronic back pain for over a decade.

The debilitating pain, caused by a degenerative disease of the spine, limited Andrea’s capabilities in simple everyday tasks but also prevented her from doing the things she loves, including sewing and tapestry. When introduced to this new pain management program managed by Pain Management Physiotherapist, Skye Sadokierski and her team at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Andrea experienced life-changing pain relief through specially designed activity and low-intensity exercise.

The grant for new equipment was awarded under the Foundation’s Annual Grants Program and sponsored by HESTA Super Fund. The Foundation has provided more than $600,000 this year towards vital hospital projects in the areas of research, staff education, equipment and innovation.
