Podcast: Young cancer survivors study

We’re proud to be supporting groundbreaking work to help young cancer survivors thrive after treatment!

Last week, Youth Cancer survivor and advocate Adry Awan joined A/Prof Ursula Sansom-Daly and Dr. Joanna Fardell to speak with Tegan Taylor on Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Radio National Life Matters Podcast — highlighting a vital but often overlooked issue: the toughest challenges for young people can come after cancer treatment ends.

With our $242,000 grant, this new two-year study will design enhanced, data-driven psychological support for adolescents and young adults (AYAs) aged 15–25 as they transition to life beyond cancer.

By developing a needs-based care model, this research aims to ensure that young survivors are not just surviving — but thriving.

We are incredibly proud to fund this vital project and thank Adry for sharing his powerful story. Together, we’re creating a stronger future for young Australians.
